Sourcing & licensing
Last updated: September 2026
The core rule of this site: share the link, not the content. Everything we feature links back to its original source, with credit; nothing is rehosted here.
How we share
- We link to the original and add a short summary in our own words.
- We don’t rehost articles, PDFs, slide decks, or images on this domain.
- Any screenshots or diagrams that are ours are marked as ours; we don’t lift other people’s images by default.
Licence check
Before anything is shared it’s checked and tagged with a licence reading that travels with it everywhere:
Free to share Licence not confirmed Link out only
- Free to share - an explicit open licence (Creative Commons, public domain, or a government open licence) permits it.
- Licence not confirmed - no clear licence, so we link out and summarise only; treat it as all-rights-reserved until confirmed.
- Link out only - paywalled or all-rights-reserved; we point to it, nothing more.
How this site is made
- Choosing. Each link is opened and read by a person before it is published. Tools that scan feeds only suggest items; nothing goes live until a person approves it.
- Writing. The note on each link is written in our own words. Articles, Foundations and Showcase pieces are written for this site and cite the standard or source they rely on.
- Examples. The screens in Showcase are built for this site to illustrate a pattern. The names, figures and readings in them are made up.
- Link checks. Links are re-checked automatically, a few each day. The check only tells us that a page still answers and that its title has not changed. It cannot tell whether the page still says what our note says, so a person confirms that. Nothing is hidden or edited automatically.
Attribution
Every shared item credits its author and source, and the licence where one applies. Open-licence material is attributed as that licence requires.
Accessible by default
The site itself meets WCAG 2.2 AA - contrast, keyboard paths, semantic structure, and status never carried by colour alone. We practise what we curate.
Evidence over opinion
We prefer sources that show their working. Opinion is welcome, but labelled as such, and never dressed up as a finding.
If it’s your work
If you’re a rights holder and want a link corrected, credited differently, or removed, email jayden (at) digitalhealthdesign.org and we’ll sort it quickly.
